Demi Moore 'was convulsing'
Demi Moore smoked something before she was rushed to the hospital on Monday night and was convulsing and "semi-conscious, barely," according to a caller on a frantic emergency call recording released today by Los Angeles fire officials. The woman tells emergency operators that Moore, 49, had been "having issues lately". "Is she breathing normal?" the operator asks. "No, not so normal. More kind of shaking, convulsing, burning up," the friend says as she hurries to Moore's side, on the edge of panic. The recording captures the 10 minutes it took paramedics to arrive as friends gather around the collapsed star and try to comfort her as she trembles and shakes. Obiefule strike sinks Qormi
Mosta maintained their recent revival when yesterday they beat Qormi to move away from the bottom places in the BOV Premier League standings. The Blues grabbed the all-important goal on 18 minutes when Jonathan Bajada raced clear on the right before sending a teasing cross into the path of Obinna Obiefule who dived full stretch to head the ball past Qormi goalkeeper Steve Sultana. Qormi were stung by the setback and struggled to mount a fightback. Their best chances came in the second half with Matthew Bartolo twice forcing vital saves from Mosta goalkeeper Jonathan Debono. The Mosta no.1 saved the result for his team in time added on when he tipped over the bar Triston Caruana's curling drive. Obinna Obiefule was voted as the BOV Player of the match.

Fitch cuts rating of five eurozone countries - Malta untouched
Rating agency Fitch today cut its ratings of five eurozone countries including Italy and Spain and lowered its outlook on Ireland, citing their poor finances and vulnerability to sharp turns in market sentiment. Malta's A sovereign rating was not touched, but Fitch dealt full downgrades to Italy, Spain, Belgium, Slovenia and Cyprus, and cut its outlook on Ireland, saying the "near-term economic outlook highlight(s) the greater vulnerability to monetary as well as financing shocks faced by these sovereign governments." Italy, Spain and Slovenia all were cut by two notches, with Fitch citing Italy faced too-slow growth against its rising debt and Spain faced "a significantly worsened fiscal and economic outlook." Fitch said it had weighed "the marked deterioration in the economic outlook" in the eurozone against successful efforts by the European Central Bank to ease the pressure on fiscally troubled governments and commercial banks. Earthquake hits N. Italy - no injuries reported
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 shook northern Italy today, the second such quake this week. The epicentre was near Parma, the US Geological Survey said. Residents in Milan said they felt the shock that lasted about 10-15 seconds. On Wednesday, a magnitude-five earthquake shook a wide area of northern Italy from Verona to Genoa. No injuries or serious damage were reported then. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from today's quake.

JPO agrees an election is the only way forward
Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando said today that he agrees with the conclusion of the editorial of today's The Times that 'there now seems to be only one way forward: an election as soon as possible'. In an entry on his facebook wall in which he speaks about Franco Debono's abstention on the vote of no confidence in the government yesterday, Dr Pullicino Orlando, who has declared he will not be contesting the next election, wrote: "Hon. Debono refused to support government in Parliament for the third time in the space of two years yesterday. An abstention in a no-confidence vote carries a lot of weight. "He has asked for the resignation of the Prime Minister. He has asked for the resignation of a number of ministers. "He has declared that he feels that the Prime Minister is controlled by a 'web of evil' and that we are living in an oligarchy and not a democracy... that is why I agree with the conclusions of today's 'Times' editorial.
